Position Summary

  • Lead and deliver SAP system-specific legislative and regulatory updates for US and Canada customers.
  • Ensure SAP systems remain compliant with legal, tax, and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze tax and regulatory changes and translate them into application updates.
  • Produce system impact specifications and test strategies for Development and QA teams.
  • Follow legislative and tax changes from discovery through successful implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the translation of US and Canadian tax and regulatory requirements into system changes for ERP systems.
  • Organize and facilitate problem-solving discussions with clients and internal teams to resolve complex HR/Payroll update issues.
  • Provide in-depth functional and technical SAP knowledge across multiple versions of US, Canada, and Quebec HR/Payroll modules.
  • Ensure product compliance through analysis of legislative and tax changes and production of business analysis and functional specifications.
  • Provide expert knowledge of US and Canadian payroll processes from a business and end-to-end process perspective.
  • Lead the analysis, design, configuration, and testing of complex legislative requirements.
  • Create user stories and functional guidance for Scrum teams.
  • Design and review complex test plans and test strategies.
  • Identify risks, issues, and potential delivery challenges and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with complex troubleshooting of tax and regulatory client cases.
  • Provide expertise in SAP configuration and processing related to US, Canadian, and Quebec legislation.
  • Provide expertise in SAP payroll tax calculations and related processes.
  • Interpret state tax file specifications and configure SAP to produce required files through US Tax Reporter.
  • Provide expertise related to Canada T4 and Quebec RL forms and associated SAP processes.
  • Develop business requirements, functional specifications, configuration requirements, and test plans.
  • Work closely with Development teams to ensure adherence to functional design and business requirements.
  • Work with QA teams to formulate test strategies, review test plans, and perform system testing.
  • Support planning activities related to tax and regulatory updates, including scheduling, project planning, and tracking.
  • Prepare release documentation, installation instructions, and client configuration instructions.
  • Serve as a liaison between Tax & Regulatory teams, Development, QA, and customers.
  • Communicate legislative and regulatory changes effectively across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain a commitment to high-quality deliverables and compliance standards.

Required Experience

  • 15+ years of experience supporting US and Canada SAP HR/Payroll projects.
  • In-depth functional and technical knowledge of SAP US, Canada, and Quebec HR/Payroll.
  • Expert knowledge of US and Canadian payroll processes from a business perspective.
  • Expert understanding of US and Canadian SAP Payroll from a legislative perspective.
  • Strong understanding of payroll department operations and expectations.
  • Extensive experience with US Tax Reporter, including state tax file specifications and SAP configuration.
  • In-depth SAP configuration experience.
  • Experience participating in enterprise application projects across development and QA lifecycles.
  • Experience working closely with Tax & Regulatory, Development, and QA teams.

Required Skills

  • Strong ability to develop business analysis and functional specification documentation from regulatory and tax requirements.
  • Ability to explain payroll processes and calculations independently of an ERP system.
  • Experience supporting global SAP operations.
  • Strong analytical and product management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Self-starter with a committed work environment and stable internet service.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with JIRA.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak French.
  • ABAP and debugging knowledge.
